Watch out Daphne Guinness, Alexander McQueen and Isabella Blow—there’s a new generation of fashion visionaries on the rise.
On May 2, style icon Daphne Guinness donned an Alexander McQueen feathered gown in the windows of the Barneys Madison Avenue flagship, before heading off to the Met Gala. In honor of the event, Barneys New York challenged students from Parsons and the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) to create outfits inspired by Ms. Guinness, Mr. McQueen, and beloved style icon Isabella Blow.
Barneys Creative Ambassador Simon Doonan and Fashion Director Amanda Brooks sized up the creative confections and chose those that best channeled the aforementioned icons.
One thing’s for sure: these kids have vision. Who knows… we may just be channeling them someday.
The winners included Irma Elezovic, Kayla Hayes, Gabrial Sahyoun, Meghan Spielman, and Jonathan Trevino, and the runners-up were Melaney Oldenhof and Matheson Reese. Congratulations to all!
